Pine needle basketry Workshop

Create your own coiled basket using locally harvested pine needles. There are several types of Pines found throughout Canberra and surrounds suitable for basketry. We’ll discuss the difference types, understand how to sustainably harvest, properly store, and prepare pine needles.

By the end of the day you will have the skills and knowledge to create a basket from start to finish. We’ll begin by creating a starting coil and using a simple spiral stitch work the basket and shape.

This is a beginners workshop, no previous basket weaving experience necessary, just bring yourself.

You’ll receive an electronic guide book as a reference to recreate your own again at home.

All materials and tools are provided for on the day to create a small basket.
